Target audience for a student magazine
Students
The main demographic for this is students. Therefore, content such as career choices or general tips would be a good idea to include in the magazine.
TV/Film
Another popular genre is this. Many magazines today have articles that are either reviews or interviews about film and TV. And the majority of students enjoy this genre
Gaming
This could go with the film audience as it is popular amongst students. Maybe by also including a review or a small top ten chart.
Lifestyle
Things such as keeping healthy or latest lifestyle tips to help with studying could have a small section within the magazine.

Initial ideas for student magazine
Masthead
The idea is to grab the audiences attension through colourful fonts which are very distinct and have a unique design to them. Further experimentation into certain colour combinations will be required.
Central image
The image will have to have something to do with the main story. Or simply an introductory splash that is more of a general image for a new issue.
House style
The style of the magazine in general will have to be unique, consisting of a colour scheme and layout which are both original.
Serif
Classic style fonts have bars at the end of letters on a typeface. This particular lettering could be considered if I decide to approach the magazine with a more professional stance.
Mode of address
For a student demographic, a more informal structure would attract more attension. this could also tie-in with the content i put in the magazine. Such topics for example like entertainment or student guides and advice could suit an informal text.
